Phonics

Little Wandle Letters and Sounds is used to deliver phonics at St Peter's.

In  2018 and 2019 St Peter's achieved 92% and 87% pass rate respectively.

Reading Scheme

Our library books are book-banded. However, we feel strongly that children should never be restricted to a 'colour' and all children are encouraged to read or at least attempt a book(s) which appeals to them. The Reading Tree image is a guide and can help with progression in reading. Children are actively encouraged to have more than one book with the ultimate aim of 'Unlocking the Love of reading for themselves'. School diaries offer the opportunity to record and reflect on books enjoyed.
