Government Funding (15 or 30 hrs)

Currently all 3 and 4 year old children are eligible for 570 hours of government funded childcare a year, which is broken down to 15 hours each week over 38 weeks of the year, starting the term following their third birthday (see table below).

From September 2017 many working parents of 3 to 4 year olds in England will be eligible for a total of 30 hours of funded childcare. Not every child will be eligible for the 30 hours, but everyone will still receive the 15 hours funded childcare that is currently available.

You can apply for your 30 hour code from when your child is 2 years and 36 weeks old. 

1 September to 31 December                 Apply 15 October to 30 November   

                                                               Term starting on or after 1 January

1 January to 31 March                            Apply 15 January to 28 February

1 April to 31 August                                Apply 15 June to 31 July  

You can apply outside of these recommended dates but you might not receive your code in time.

You must have a valid code by the end of the month before a new term starts and your code must not be in any grace period.

You have to reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months. If you apply more than 3 months before the term starts, you’ll have to reconfirm your eligibility in your account in order to keep your code valid.

If for any reason funding cannot be claimed then fees will become applicable.

At St Peter’s C of E Academy we propose that we will be able to offer the full 30 hours funded childcare for 38 weeks per year, which is equivalent to school term times.

St Peters C of E Academy are currently offering the following option for 30 hrs funded sessions: (subject to review & change)

Mon – Fri, term time only

8.30 am – 11.30 am (3 hrs funded morning session)

8.30 am – 12.30 pm (3 hrs funded morning session with 1 hr optional funded or fees paid lunch club care  add on)*

8.30 am – 3.30 pm (7 hrs funded full day session)

*hot school dinner (£1.70 dinner fees apply in addition to the care cost) or packed lunch

For example there are various ways of using 15 hrs funding, 

Option 1 - 2 full days (uses 14 hrs funding, no fees payable)

Option 2 - 1 full day and 2 morning sessions with lunch cub (uses 15 hrs funding, no fees payable)

Option 3 - 5 morning sessions (uses 15 hrs funding, no fees payable)

Option 4 - 2 full days and 1 morning session (uses 15 hrs funding, fees payable for 2 x 1 hr lunch club care at a cost of £4.00 each)

For those of you that use 30 hrs funding,

Option 1 - 5 full days (uses 30 hrs funding, fees payable for 5 x 1 hr lunch club care at a cost of £4.00 each)

Option 2 - 3 or 4 full days (uses 21 or 28 hrs funding, no fees payable)

Ad-hoc sessions maybe bookable if space is available however, funding cannot be used for these, fees would be payable.

Please note that the funding hours used must be determined at the start of the term and cannot be changed during that term. There can be no swapping of funded days even for only one week. If a different session is needed then an ad-hoc fee will be applicable.
