Welcome to Maple Class 2025
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer holiday and are ready for the start of a new school year. I am thrilled to have you in Maple Class and am so excited to begin a new school year and get to know each and every one of you. We have had a wonderful first few days in school where everyone has settled and adapted to the new routines beautifully. It is lovely to see so much enthusiasm for learning and I can already see you all have a fabulous ‘Take Care’ approach to looking after each other and our classroom.
Here is some useful information with a few things about this year before our Meet and Great on Wednesday 24th September.
Useful information:
- In our classroom this year, children will be taught primarily by Mrs Archer Dytch (class teacher). Mrs Smith and sports coaches will cover PPA.
- Every fortnight I will send out a class newsletter which will let you know what we have been up to. This will be uploaded on to this webpage every other Friday. Please check this page for homework set.
- This term PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Children will need to bring suitable clothing for outdoor PE. There will be an outdoor PE session and an indoor PE session. As the weather changes, a warm kit - long tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirts, hats and gloves - are advised on very cold days.
- Reading books - As children are now in Key Stage Two, children are expected to independently change their books whenever they need to, using our school library or the class library. We simply ask that they record which new book they have taken in their personal reading log and choose a book within their colour band. Please read with your child at least 3 times as week and ask them questions about the text. Record and sign all reading in the calendar pages of their diary. This evidence of reading will earn them Take Care tokens, and bookmarks will be awarded for regular reading.
- Spellings: We are following the ‘No Nonsense’ spelling scheme and this will be taught during SPaG lessons or during a specific timetabled slot. Alongside this we learn the Statutory Year 3/4 spellings; therefore, I will send the Statutory spelling list home fortnightly with the spellings your child needs to learn.
- Work diary: School diaries are needed in school EVERY day. We use them to record reading and commendations and other information we feel you may need to know.
- Water bottles should be labelled and brought to school each day. We have a water cooler in the room.
- The children do not need to bring in a pencil case.
- Preloved uniform can always be found in school for you to help yourself.
- As always, clubs and dates can be found on the ‘Week at a Glance.’
If you have any concerns or just wish to discuss your child’s progress, I am always happy to talk, but can I please ask that you make an appointment first, via the office on parentcorrespondence@st-peters.notts.sch.uk or by catching me at the end of the day in the playground. Thank you.
Looking forward to a great year!
Mrs Archer Dytch
