Fir Class will be taught by Mrs Lewis (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) and Miss Brownley (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). We will also be supported by Mrs Gilbert (until she begins her maternity leave), and then by Mrs Atkinson thereafter.
A class newsletter will be uploaded to this page every week.
Group reading sessions will take place daily, ensuring that each child’s reading is heard regularly. Reading books will be changed weekly.
Phonics and spelling sessions take place every day, ensuring that reading, writing, and spelling skills are being taught, practised, and applied.
Family Box is a speaking and listening activity that all children will have the opportunity to take part in. We have a timetable for this, which will be shared with you. This replaces Show and Tell and gives children the chance to share photos of their family, things they are proud of, and any special keepsakes. Anything goes, really! We don’t mind what children choose to share, as long as they are able to speak about it. A prompt sheet for us can be helpful too! 😊
Please name all clothing and equipment.
Read with your child at least three times a week, and ask them questions about the text. Please record all reading in their diary. This record is considered evidence of reading and will be rewarded.
Please ensure PE kits are kept in school at all times.
This year, children do not need a pencil case. A water bottle is optional, as we have individual cups and a water cooler in each classroom.
If your child is going home with someone different, please inform the office so that we are aware.
Finally, we look forward to an amazing and creative year! As a school, we truly appreciate the commitment and dedication from home, and we can’t wait to watch your children grow in confidence, independence, and maturity.
