We are proud to be a Little Wandle school, following a systematic programme to teach reading and spelling. The resources listed below are recommended by Little Wandle and are designed to support parents and carers in helping their child develop strong phonics and spelling skills. The 'Complete the code' resource helps support children when spelling unfamiliar words. The support mat shows all the phonemes (sounds) taught and the corresponding grapheme (the way it looks) over the course of the academic year. 

In Year 2, the children will begin learning more advanced spelling rules. The toolkit mat and spelling rules/patterns resource outline what we will be working on over the year.
