Mathematics in EYFS
The first few years of a child’s life are especially important for mathematics development. Our objective is to ensure that all children develop firm mathematical foundations in a way that is engaging, and appropriate for their age.
By the end of the year we aim for all our children to be working at the Early Learning Goals:
Number
Numerical Patterns
At St. Peter's we follow the White Rose Scheme to guide the teaching of Mathematics in Reception. In addition to this, we also use materials from CBeebies Numberblocks to support our children's mathematical thinking and understanding.
There are six key areas of early mathematics learning, which collectively provide a platform for everything children will encounter as they progress through their mathematics learning at primary school, and beyond.
Below, you find more information and ideas on how to support your child at home.
