Did you know?
At East Bridgford we are fortunate in many ways, having the wonderful countryside around us, lots of parents with amazing talents who come in and share their expertise with the children as well, of course, as our wonderful pupils. What many people do not know though is how much our local businesses help us to enrich the children's education. East Bridgford Post Office is one of our main friends and in the past has contributed resources for cookery, model making and science even delivering them to the door. Newton House Farm not only gave us a beautiful 15ft tree but delivered it complete with stand and helped Mr Maynard put it up. After Christmas they took it away for recycling. Harvey Pickford at Springdale Farm regularly supplies us with farming resources such as hay and straw bales as well as taking the time to tell the children about farming and bring in his tractor to show the children how it works. Mrs Pickford is an expert on chickens and has proved an invaluable help to Reception when they hatch chicks in the class incubator.
East Bridgford Garden Centre regularly welcomes our children and not only gives them an insight into life at a busy garden centre but have also also
supplied the children with gardening goodie bags! At Christmas they generously donated decorations for our tree and helped excited School Councillors to select the best value products for their money.
Maidenhead Aquatics provided expert advice when we first set up our fish tank but have been on hand ever since to help sort out problems, choose new fish and plants and generously donate products to help the tank stay fit and healthy.
Parents of former pupils, such as Mrs Challoner, add their expertise to our clubs and societies and Mr and Mrs Ashmore of Ashmore's reataurant regularly enhance lessons and cookery club with delicious and exciting culinary workshops. Year 3 is one one of many classes fortunate enough to have reading partners who give time each week to support children in their quest to become more confident readers.
The Parish Council has worked in partnership with children to help improve the play area on the park and included the year 3 work and surveys in the Park Open Day Forum.
All in all, we are very lucky and thank everyone for their generous support; do you have a skill or talent to offer? Why not share it with St.Peter's, I'm sure that you would find the experience rewarding.
